Maroquin bleu nuit, plats ornés d'un décor géométrique composé de chevrons et d'un grand faisceau, mosaïqué de pièces de maroquin bleu clair, beige, blanc et de surfaces poussées or et à froid, filets et pointillés dorés et à froid, dos orné, large encadrement intérieur de maroquin reprenant le décor des plats, doublure et gardes de daim gris bleu, couverture et dos (Pierre Legrain). Emboîtage moderne.Légers reports habituels. SUPERBE RELIURE MOSAÏQUÉE À DÉCOR CUBISTE DE PIERRE LEGRAIN. Riche ornementation de Schmied, comportant 80 compositions et lettrines, gravées sur bois et imprimées en couleurs, or et argent, dans une mise en page révolutionnaire. Tirage à 110 exemplaires sur vélin d'Arches (n° 94), signé par Schmied à la justification. L'UN DES LIVRES MAJEURS DE LA PÉRIODE ART DÉCO, LE CHEF-D'ŒUVRE DE FRANÇOIS-LOUIS SCHMIED. Exécutée pour la marquise de Paris, la reliure est décrite dans le Répertoire Legrain (n° 113, repr. pl. LII) et reproduite dans les Reliures présentées par Rose Adler (pl. 10).
