Catalogue Note

The iconic reference 1518 was Patek Philippe’s first perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch produced in series.  A decade later, reference 2499 was introduced to the market.  With only 349 examples manufactured over 35 years of production, it remains today one of the most sought-after wristwatches of our time. Today, collectors and scholars categorize reference 2499 into four series.  The present example, reference 2499/1, is that of the fourth series –  featuring round chronograph pushers, applied baton numerals, an outer seconds division and a sapphire crystal.

Based on our research, this watch has never been offered at auction, making this an extremely rare opportunity to own a fresh-to-the-market piece.  For a similar example of reference 2499/100 bearing the prestigious Tiffany & Co. retailer signature, please see lot 134.
