Catalogue Note

One of 1426 copies, signed by Eisenhower. In his D-Day message to members of the Allied Expeditionary Forces, the Supreme Allied Commander writes, "You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months … In company with out brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world …." Crusade in Europe was published in 1948, when Eisenhower was no doubt giving serious thought to a career in politics. He was elected 34th President of the United States in November 1952.
