Condition

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This work has been restored. The canvas is lined with wax and stretched onto a new stretcher. The paint layer is slightly flat as a result of the lining. Under ultraviolet light, one can see isolated spots of retouching in a few areas of the background, half a dozen of which are in the upper right and upper center. There are a few spots in the red bonnet on the right side. In the face, there are only retouches beneath the nose, to the right of the mouth, and in two spots in the right side of the lips. The only other retouching of any note is in the lower center to a damage to the edge of the sleeve and in the white shirt. The work can be hung as is, or the lining could be reversed.
