We would like to thank Monsieur David Duputel who has kindly confirmed the authenticity of this work, which will be included in the forthcoming Catalogue raisonné de l'oeuvre d'Hippolyte-Camille Delpy currently in preparation.
Examined out of the frame. Oil on panel adhered to another thicker panel. The surface presents well and appears bright and fresh, aside from faint craquelure on the sun and a very minor pinpoint dent near right upper edge. Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly (mostly at the edges). Brushy areas, dashes and dots of finely applied retouching widely scattered in the sky and water (a very few visible to the naked eye at the center left edge). In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
