Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is evidence of wear and handling to the edges including minor losses to the corners with subsequent flaking to the lower right corner. Under very close inspection, there is hairline craquelure along the turning edges visible. Further close inspection reveals a pinpoint spot of loss on the top edge approximately 1 ½ inches from the right edge. The colors are bright, fresh and clean. Under Ultraviolet inspection, there is no evidence of restoration. Unframed.

Catalogue Note

“Drag queens are living testimony to the way women used to be, the way some people still want them to be, and the way some women will actually want to be. Drags are ambulatory archives of ideal movie star womanhood. They perform a documentary service, usually consecrating their lives to keeping the glittering alternative alive and available for (not-too-close) inspection.” Andy Warhol
