Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The woven panels have been affixed to wooden supports. The colors are vibrant, and the media layer is stable. Minor lifting of the media layer is present at the extreme corners of a few of the woven squares; all of these areas are stable and do not affect the composition. This work is ready to hang.

Catalogue Note

"The thread spiraling into form, in unison with blood and stars, the great wind of earth, the loom of orbit, the wrangle of root and branch. As the eye's music, it was more than consonance of rhythms and the poetry of analogies. Because it embodies ideas and sentiments rather than simply represent or reflect on them, weaving became a wholeness that in turn was a model for the possible wholeness, or continuity, of world and mind."  Ricardo Pau-Llosa, "The Eye's Music of the Emergence of the Thaumaturgical Object," in Olga de Amaral: The Mantle of Memory, Paris 2013, p. 115
