Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is evidence of wear and handling throughout the surface and on the underside of the work, consistent with the artist's intended method of display directly on the floor. In the center area of the painted cat figure, media accretion are visible upon close inspection. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there are scattered spots on the underside of the work and in the red inner crevices on both sides that fluoresce darkly as evidence of previous light retouching. There is also a very faint fluorescence in the upper right corner of the fold top.
