Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is brighter and more vibrant in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Extremely close inspection in bright light reveals a few minute spots of burnishing to a few of the protruding elements. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.

Catalogue Note

“I think I am a painter who is a sculptor. My view is that sculpture has always been about presence in the world. What I have been engaged in – which is what I think painters do – is to deal with an illusory presence in the world; one that isn’t necessarily here. I am making physical things that are all about somewhere else” (Anish Kapoor cited in: David Anfam, Ed.,  Anish Kapoor, London 2009, p. 94).
