Description

  • 19cm. diam.
set with facet-cut diamonds with foil backing, the openwork design forming flowerheads and two birds, with a hinged pendant in the form of a bird with spinel drop, polychrome enamelling on the reverse with foliate motifs and birds on each setting

Family of Hari Singh Nalwa (1791-1837), by descent.

Condition

In good condition, some of the foiling to reverse of diamonds oxidised, some associated discoloration on metal due to oxidisation, could benefit from professional cleaning, some minor sections of enamel rubbed and with associated restoration, the small pearl to centre of necklace re-attached, drill holes to centre of openwork sections show that there would have been a third string for attaching which is now missing, the clasp for attaching added later, as viewed.
