Condition

These gelatin silver prints are in generally excellent condition. When examined closely in raking light, the following can be seen on most of the prints: a few very small raised areas; occasionally some crescent-shaped handling creases; and occasional surface disruptions consistent with notations on the reverse - the aforementioned do not appear to break the emulsion. The following are visible in the margins on most of the prints: tack holes at each of the corners (all but No. 5); the edges and corners are slightly worn with occasional creases; the upper and lower margins are slightly curled upwards; and cropping notations in grease pencil in the lower margin on Nos. 3, 6, and 7. No. 1: There is a tiny green deposit of indeterminate nature in the upper right quadrant. No. 2: There is a tiny deposit of indeterminate nature in the left side of the image. There are 2 long linear impressions in the upper left quadrant which are only visible in raking light and do not appear to beak the emulsion. No. 5: Numbered 'SP 5/99' in pencil on the reverse. No. 7: When examined in raking light, some minor scuffs are visible at the center of the print. Numbered 'SP 7/99' in pencil on the reverse.
