Condition

Overall in very good condition. A rare frame with beautiful knots accenting the footboard. Originally designed for Molesworth's historic commission of "Old Lodge", the beds are in age appropriate condition. Overall, the beds present with deeper and more varied brown hues than as visible in the catalogue illustration. The wood surfaces with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks, dents, marks, abrasions, and some areas of rubbing and discoloration, all consistent with age and use. There are natural knots, irregularities, and separations in the wood grain, typical for Inland fir, which have been reinforced with wood infill in areas by Molesworth at the time of production; a few of these areas throughout with scattered minor losses to the infill. The painted woodland motifs with some areas of slight wear to the paint throughout, and possibly refreshed at some stage in the piece's history. The headboards and footboards both with some very faint fading to the vertical edges of each panel.The upper edge of the proper left headboard with a loss to the wood to the proper left side measuring approximately 3/8 x 1 ½ in. The bottom proper left corner of the panel with an area of black discoloration measuring approximately 3 5/8 x 4 5/8 in., not visible with a mattress on the bed. The proper right headboard with a minor loss to the infill to the bottom of the proper left stile measuring approximately 1 ½ x 1/8 in. The outer poles of the footboards with some slightly more pronounced rubbing, not visually distracting. Some residual nicks and some wood losses around the metal hardware of the head and footboard due assembly/breakdown of the beds over the years.The lot is offered together with metal support beams, all in very good condition, as well as its associated hardware.
