Condition

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces with scattered scuffs, scratches, chips, dents, and minor areas of rubbing, consistent with age and use. There are natural knots, irregularities, and separations in the wood grain, typical for Inland fir, which have been reinforced with wood infill by Molesworth at the time of production; a few of these areas throughout with losses to the infill, most significantly to the reverse of the front proper left foot, measuring approximately 3 1/8 x 1/8 in. Both the seat and back cushions are reversible with Chimayo wool weaving on one side and leather on the other. The wool is in good, clean condition and presents with a richer wheat color than as illustrated in the catalogue. The seat cushion with a small area of discoloration near the rear proper right corner of the wool measuring approximately 1 ¾ x 1 ½ in. The tan and forest green leather is original; its surfaces with some minor surface scratches, dents, creases, and areas of discoloration consistent with age and use. The leather back cushion straps with some wear throughout, most prominently where the straps join the cushion. The fabric liner to the underside of the chair is partially detached on the left and right sides. The brass tacks with some minor surface scratches and areas of rubbing, not visually distracting and consistent with age and gentle use. A comfortable, deep seated chair, with Molesworth's iconic use of materials.
