Provenance

Marc Taggart & Co., Cody, Wyoming

Condition

Overall in very good original condition. The wood surfaces with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks, dents, and minor areas of rubbing and discoloration, all consistent with age and use. There are natural knots, irregularities, and separations in the wood grain, typical for Inland fir, which have been reinforced with wood infill in areas by the artist at the time of production. The front proper left and right feet with one and two losses to the infill respectively, the largest measuring approximately 2 3/8 x 1/8 in. The proper right stretcher also with a nearly continuous loss to this infill measuring approximately 9 ½ in. in length, though not unusual for the design and stable. The motifs along the front, back and side aprons overall with some minor fading to the paint. The seatback with some more prominent scattered scratches, mainly concentrated directly below the bronco motif, as visible in the catalogue illustration. The handle to the rear of the seat back with a more prominent abrasion measuring approximately 1/8 x 1 3/8 in. The leather is original; its surfaces with scattered surface scratches, nicks, dents, abrasions, and instances of rubbing and discoloration, all consistent with age and use. An iconic western motif in very good, age appropriate condition.
