the tapering body rising from a flat base to a broad shoulder and short neck with rolled rim, brightly painted and enamelled around the exterior with four large cusped panels enclosing fish amidst water plants, all divided by ruyi panels and reserved on an iron-red diaper ground, the domed cover decorated with peaches and pomegranates

Hotel des Ventes Drouot, Paris in 1977.

Condition

The neck of the jar has been restored up to the rim. The cover is in general good condition, with some fritting around the finial and around the rim, there is a glaze line between the fruits (approx. 1.5 cm). There are minor burst bubbles and iron spots.
