Description

  • Height of each panel 68 7/8  in., 174.9 cm; Width 15 7/8  in., 40.3 cm
one side of the brown-lacquered surface carved and infilled in polychrome with a lively archery contest at a palace between landscape panels above and flower basket panels below, the reverse with boats and pavilions dotting a mountainous riverscape between floral panels above and flower vase panels below

Condition

The panels with restoration to scattered and numerous areas of splitting, lost and lifting lacquer and pigments. The restoration has somewhat now yellowed and darkened. The hinged sides have been re-lacquered and the hinges replaced. There is wear overall consistent with age and use.
