Description

  • Height 18 1/2  in., 47 cm
the tall ovoid body set over a waisted foot and surmounted by a waisted neck and garlic-head mouth with an upright rim, crisply painted in bright cobalt tones with pavilions nested along riverbanks and towering mountains, scholars and attendants ambling along tree-lined paths

Collection of Stephen Junkunc, III (d. 1978). 

Condition

The vase with restoration to two hairline cracks and a chip to the rim. There is further restoration to a long, vertical body crack with associate losses traveling from neck to just above the base. The restoration has darkened to yellow and is flaking in places. The body with characteristic craquelure, wear and minor imperfections all consistent with age and type.
