Description

  • 14cm by 8.5cm, 5 1/2 in by 3 3/4 in.
of oval shape set within a red leather wallet lined with green leather, painted on ivory with inscriptions below and above 'This book of the Emperor Alexander I was presented by the Emperor Nicholas I to D. T. C. Nich. Golitzin' and 'A Portrait of Empress Maria by Her Majesty to him also.'

Condition

The miniature and plaques in excellent condition, with only minor surface scratches consistent with age. The leather wallet with wear throughout and the claps broken.
