Description

  • Ruth Orkin
  • 'Dorit & Chagit Lazarus, Girl Twins, Sabras (German Descent), Beth Tirzhak Moshau'
  • Each 9 by 10 in. (20.3 by 24.4 cm.)
a suite of 4 photographs, each flush-mounted to board, one with title and each with sequential numbers in ink, the photographer's '53 W 88 NY 24' credit/studio and the 'American Society of Magazine Photographers' stamps on the reverse, 1951 (4)

Condition

These early photographs are in generally excellent condition. Each photograph has been mounted to thick board with the edges wrapped around and adhered to the reverse. The reverse of each board is covered with brown paper. The edges of each print are slightly worn with occasional bumps and losses of paper. There is occasional faint soiling and/or brown deposits of indeterminate nature on some of the prints. When examined in raking light, the following are visible: thin linear and some pinpoint-sized impressions; a few glossy areas; and deposits of original retouching. All but the fourth print exhibit the faintest silvering in the darkest areas of the prints. There are a few abrasions to the brown paper on the reverse of each mount, as well as some minor soiling. There is a hanging tab with a metal eyelet affixed to the reverse of each mount which partially covers the 'American Society of Magazine Photographers' stamp. There is a small piece of orange foam affixed to the reverse of the first print.
