Condition

This early print is in overall good to very good condition. When examined in raking light, the following are visible: thin surface scratches; pin-point-sized impressions in the upper portion of the image; and deposits of original retouching. The print is trimmed to the image and there is wear at the peripherty. The lower corners are creased, breaking the emulsion. The reverse is stamped '63 2 6 _20.' The typed caption on the reverse reads: 'Dr. Martin Luther King photographed while his aides hand out the text of his speech and the statement by the Rev. F.L. Shuttlesworth to reporters. They announced that the 'non-violent direct action campaign' was terminated.'
