Catalogue Note

Clearly the work of an eccentric mannerist draftsman, this drawing could well be by a Bolognese master.  It is somewhat reminiscent of the style of Sammacchini, but the spirited and intricate handling of the pen and ink is that of another, very individual artistic personality.
