oil on canvas, unlined  A later copy after Frans Hals' painting of 'circa' 1624–26, today in the Louvre, Paris (inv. no. Condition

All paintings available to view at the Sotheby’s Greenford Park warehouse, 5 - 7 and 10 – 13 September (10 - 4pm), by appointment. The canvas is unlined, the paint surface is dirty and the varnish is discoloured. The paint surface is also visibly worn throughout. Stretcher marks are visible, particularly along the upper and left sides of the painting. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals little to no intervention.
