Description

The rectangular minaudière applied with black enamel, decorated with circular-cut and oval ruby floral motifs, opening to reveal similarly decorated interior with two compartments, a lipstick compartment, a fitted lighter and a fitted powder compact, numbered, French assay marks, compact with maker's mark, black silk carrying pouch stamped Van Cleef & Arpels.

Condition

With French assay marks for mixed gold and silver, and also silver, compact with Van Cleef & Arpels' maker's mark. Compact numbered 62111, lighter numbered 6446, compartment numbered 6387. The interior compact and lighter is removable. The compartment door is in good working condition. The exterior black enamel is in good condition, with scratches at the bottom commensurate with age. The rubies are on average medium dark puplish red hue, typical natural inclusions. Accompanied by a silk pouch stamped Van Cleef & Arpels, wear to the corners consistent with age. Signs of wear to metal. Overall in fair condition commensurate with age.
