Catalogue Note

Flato’s Flair Paul Flato, an American jeweller beloved by Hollywood glamours such as Greta Garbo, Rita Hayworth and Merle Oberon during the Golden Age of cinema, was known for his amusing and flamboyant designs.

The first jeweller to have his name reflected in the credits of a movie, Flato’s flair of fashioning platinum and diamond jewellery into flowers, ribbons and scrolls, as well as transforming ordinary objects into whimsical luxury became iconic statements of Flato’s bejewelled interpretations.
