Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the year of manufacture in 1966, and sale on March 2nd, 1967. The present lot is a well preserved example of the Reference 1463, an iconic chronograph wristwatch produced in less than 750 examples. This model is well-loved for its substantial case, featuring a screw-down back and round chronograph pushers. Whereas to modern eyes, many vintage pieces appear rather small, the proportions of the Ref. 1463 are just right.

The Reference 1463 was first water resistant chronograph wristwatch made by Patek Philippe. The model was manufactured from 1940 until circa 1969, and remained Patek Philippe's last chronograph wristwatch until the appearance of the Reference 5070 in 1998. To see an example of the 5070, please see lot 277.
