Condition

CASE Case in very good condition with light wear, and superficial surface scratches and scuffs. The right side band below the crown with some small dot nicks and wear. Left side band with normal and light wear. Case back with surface scuffs and light scratches. Screw down threads are very clean. Backs of lugs with light scratches and wear. Bezel with some soft scuffs. One more visible scuff between 10 and 11. DIAL Dial is highly attractive with some and warm coloring. Under very close observation there are light surface lines throughout. Surface markings and light debris. Engine turning to the sub dial with some oxidation. Number 4 with some wear and a scratch to the lip. Some debris/oxidation within the 9. A spot marking to the upper left of the center arbor. MOVEMENT Dust cover with a small indent marking to the band. Outer area with some light wear. The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the date of sale on July 20th, 1949 with applied steel Breguet numerals. The present lot bears the very attractive Breguet dial configuration, a variation coveted by collectors for its highly elegant aesthetic.

Patek Philippe's Reference 565 is considered one of the most iconic time-only watches fitted with a large form Calatrava case. Made for the modern and active man, the cases are robust, and fitted with screw down case backs. Further, a metal dust cap protects the movement from the elements and magnetic fields.
