Catalogue Note

Accompanied by an Audemars Piguet Certificate of Origin and Guarantee booklet.Audemars Piguet celebrated the 30th anniversary of their most iconic wristwatch with the Royal Oak Concept Watch 1 (CW1), presented at the 2002 SIHH convention.

The highly futuristic case still pays tribute to the classic Royal Oak shape, particularly with the octagonal screw set bezel and hooded lugs. The case is unusual, and stands alone as the only watch by the firm made of Alacrite 602. Alacrite is a very hard non-magnetic super-alloy that is resistant to corrosion. Though the material is extremely difficult to utilize and manipulate, Audemars Piguet triumphs with this impressive 44 x 50 mm case, weighing only 150 grams.

The Concept Watch's intricate cal. 2896 movement was developed by Renaud & Papi and was not based on an existing ébauche. It is characterized by the titanium structure and the shock-absorption design for the tourbillon cage. The partially open, multi layered dial architecture elevates this movement perfectly.

The present lot is a cutting-edge example of firm's commitment to both traditional and innovative technological research.
