Catalogue Note

The revolutionary Quadruple Tourbillon demonstrates the firm's drive to continually innovate in the field of precision timekeeping. The watch employs four different tourbillons rotating in two double tourbillon cages. The two interior tourbillons rotate every 60 seconds at at 30° angle, and the two exterior rotate every four minutes.  The 30° angle of the interior tourbillons prevents them from ever staying in a completely horizontal or vertical position, which helps eliminate the most extreme variations in rate.   The asymmetrical dial provides an elegant display to view both tourbillon cages. This effect is achieved by the use of transparent sapphire bridges between the exterior and interior tourbillons. The two double tourbillon systems are joined by a differential mechanism, so if one escapement briefly passes through a horizontal or vertical position, the other one, rotating at an angle will offset that, leading to more precise timekeeping.

The firm produces less than ten Quadruple Tourbillons a year, making the present lot not only an exceptional piece of horological artistry, but also extremely rare.
