Condition

Overall very good condition. The favrile glass “Lily” shades are a well-assembled harmonious set, displaying subtle variations in form and coloration. The shades are in very good condition, each with scattered minor air bubbles and particulate inclusions inherent in the making and not visually detractive. Each shade with some expected occasional fleabites around the upper aperture, not visible when the shades are installed. Some of the shades with light surface scratches and rubbing to the top interior from continued surface contact over time with the interior sockets. On shade with a small vertical crack on the ruffled lower rim measuring approximately 1 inch high, stable. The exterior of the shades are beautifully iridized, and when viewed with reflected light display a strong range of brilliant jewel-tone hues. The base is beautifully cast and is in very good overall condition with some surface soiling, minor traces of oxidation, and some traces of cleaning residue to the recessed portions of the design, particularly within the recessed of the twisted vine base standard. The gilt bronze with some scattered minor discolorations and wear to the patina throughout, concentrated particularly to the base foot, consistent with age. The bronze with some scattered instances of pitting. All sockets and the base switch appear original and undisturbed. A wonderful example of the model displaying great artistry and naturalism, epitomizing the Art Nouveau style.
