Condition

Overall very good condition. When viewed in person, the blue and purple clematis blossoms present with more nuanced coloration compared to the printed catalogue illustration. The shade is executed with a nicely varied selection of striated and fractured glass. The shade with approximately 19 hairline cracks dispersed throughout, all stable. The shade with some light surface soiling throughout concentrated to the contours adjacent to the leadlines. The base in very good condition and presents with a rich, beautifully marbled patina. The bronze with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, discolorations and areas of wear to the patina consistent with age and gentle use. The base foot with a small area of surface irregularity measuring approximately 1 x 1/2 inch, inherent in the making and not visually detractive. All of the “turtle-back” tiles appear original and undisturbed. The painting to the cames surrounding the turtle-backs is in good condition with some occasional minor flakes. All sockets and paddle switches appear original and undisturbed. With a period finial in overall very good condition with a shallow dimple on one side. A playful and graphic floral shade design with an exemplary turtle-back urn base.
