Condition

Overall very good condition. The double-gourd form of the vase displays with great sculptural presence and rich, opaque glass. The glass surfaces throughout with scattered minute air bubbles, surface irregularities and particulate inclusions inherent in the making, not visually detractive. The glass surfaces with some extremely minor and fine surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. The vase is beautifully iridized, presenting a range of tones from rich honey to soft lavender. The flower is masterfully carved and presents with strong, luminous iridescence and exceptionally delicate details. The carved foliage on either side of the blossom is sensitively rendered, displaying wonderful dimensionality. The interior of the aperture with a some minor, faint discoloration, not visually detractive. A beautiful example of Tiffany’s carved glass decoration.
