Description

Designed as a stylised palm-tree set with brilliant-cut diamonds and pear-shaped citrines, signed Asprey, indistinct British hallmarks and maker's mark. LITERATURE Sotheby's, Fine Jewels, 20th September 2017, Lot 259, for an example of a similar brooch by Asprey.

Condition

Plaque signed Asprey to reverse of brooch. Stamped with British hallmarks for 18 carat gold, indistinct date letter mark and maker's mark A & Co Ltd for Asprey to base of stem. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated total diamond weight approximately 1.60-1.80 carats, estimated clarity SI as graded within the limitations of the mount, colour difficult to estimate due to mount. Citrines mid orange, transparent, appears clean, chips visible particularly around the top of citrines, some surface wear to stone surfaces such as scratches and rubbed facets. Scratches and wear to metal surfaces. Brooch fitting with some light play and slightly bent, closes securely. Gross weight approximately 27.9 grams. Length approximately 58 x 54mm.
