Description

Of rectangular form, decorated with a carved jade plaque and circular-cut  diamonds, the exterior applied with red and black laquer, measuring approximately 90 x 74 x 12mm, French assay marks. 

Condition

Stamped with French assay marks for silver-gilt to underside of thumb piece and left hand inside edge, additionally stamped with indistinct maker's marks J and ? within a lozenge. Lacquer with abrasions and scratches to surface commensurate with age, two chips repaired to lacquer on bottom back right hand corner and edge of lid back left hand side corner. Jade plaque of mottled green colour with some fine hairline fissures to jade. Gross weight approximately 194 grams.
