Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The canvases are unlined and stitched horizontally in the center. There is evidence of wear and handling to the corners and turning edges with several associated losses to the pigment, most notably at the top left corner and lower center turning edge. Under close inspection, there are a few scattered pinpoint accretions and some minor, unobtrusive surface scratches. Only visible under very close inspection, there is a very small protrusion at the lower right corner of the canvas. This work was not examined under Ultraviolet light inspection. Unframed.

Catalogue Note

“During an act of painting, everything happens, variations playing themselves through, the rejection of everything sentimental up to the basic concepts. My art is not trendy. It is necessary painting, political not only through its objective message but also through its painterly realizations.” Jörg Immendorff
