Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The irregularities and variations to the surface texture and edges are due to the artist's choice of medium and working method. Under very close inspection and with raking light, there are minor, unobtrusive scattered areas of pinpoint pigment loss to the extreme perimeter of the work and to some of the peaks of impasto. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there are a few very minor, scattered areas of restoration to some of the peaks of impasto. Framed.

Catalogue Note

"One must not confuse what the eyes apprehend with what happens when the mind takes it in. In any single instant the eyes see only a side facing them, they converge on a small field. The mind totalizes; it recapitulates all the fields; it makes them dance together...Perhaps we live in a world invented by ourselves." Jean Dubuffet
