Condition

This work is in very good and sound condition overall. The surface irregularities are inherent to the artist's working method. There is evidence of oxidation and associated minor discoloration visible throughout, again inherent to the artist's working method and natural aging process for this medium. Within the crevices of the sculpture, minor dust accretions are visible.

Catalogue Note

"Velásquez as a point of reference has always been the testing ground for Valdés' paraphrases. Each new research effort has been carried out on the fallow land of Velásquez's figures...Valdés falls back on Velásquez's work time and again to move forward with his own imagery."
