Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The top edge is slightly deckled, and there is extremely minor evidence of handling in each corner. Under very close inspection, two faint, unobtrusive circular discolorations are visible in the white region of the upper left and right quadrants. Under extreme raking light, very faint and unobtrusive surface scuffs are visible in the black area. The sheet is hinged verso to the mat along the top edge. Framed under glass.

Catalogue Note

"You have to look and ask questions...about what you are seeing all the time. Drawing makes you see things clearer, and clearer, and clearer still. The image is passing through you in a physiological way, into your brain, into your memory – where it stays – it’s transmitted by your hands."
David Hockney
