Catalogue Note

One of the most important menuisiers of the 18th century, Louis Delanois (1731-1792, maître in 1761) worked for a selective clientele which included the Prince de Condé, the Duc de Chartres, the King Stanislaus of Poland and the Duchesse de Berry, for whom he received numerous commissions. Two similar pairs of fauteuils were sold Christie’s London, 7 December 1989, lots 84 and 90 (the latter grey painted and stamped).
