NATURAL PEARL AND DIAMOND BANGLE, SECOND HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY

Description

Of hinged design, with scalloped shaped centre, set with cushion-shaped and rose diamonds supporting a natural pearl, to foliate shoulders set with seed pearls and rose diamonds, inner circumference approximately 165mm, French assay mark for 18 carat gold, and French import assay mark for silver, gross weight approximately 41.32 grams.

Provenance

This bracelet was given by Roland Petit to his wife, Zizi Jeanmaire. 

Condition

French assay and import assay marks for silver and 18 carat gold. Pearls white to cream body colour with green and rose overtones, the largest measuring approximately 7.7 x 6.4mm, some areas of light pitting, banding and other mild imperfections to nacre surfaces. Varied shapes. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated total diamond weight approximately 1.40 - 1.80 carats. Clasp secure, with additional safety chain. Shell motif measuring approximately 23 x 23mm. Areas of dark discoloration to metal. Scratches to surfaces consistent with wear. Gross weight approximately 41.32 grams.
