Condition

This mural-sized Cibachrome print is in generally excellent condition. The colors remain vibrant and saturated, with no apparent fading. There is very minor soiling near the edges, which is only visible in raking light. Upon very close inspection, there are 2 thin, faint, blue-toned lines near the extreme left and right edges of the image. This is possibly a result of processing and does not detract from the overall fine appearance of this impressive, large photograph.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion.

Catalogue Note

‘Beauty has been a taboo in art for such a long time. . .To me, both nature and the innocence of children is something beautiful. Children are born innocent into a cruel and dangerous world. I wanted to do something with that idea.’ – Ruud van Empel
