  • Two Brutalist Wall Plaques
  • torch-cut and welded patinated bronze

Condition

Each plaque in overall very good condition. An anonymous design, executed in simple, yet rough and unfinished block-like forms clearly alludes to the technique utilized by Brutalist designers in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. The patinated metallic block forms are distanced from the wall 6 in. via perpendicular bronze rods affixing back plate. The left sculpture with two slightly bent corners visible in the catalogue illustration, but this does not distract from the overall design. Two bronze rods in this sculpture would benefit from resoldering, but it does not affect stabilization. Both sculptures with a few natural hairlines in the metal from the time of production and typical in works of this material. Overall a complimentary pair of wall plaques that convey an abstract form evocative of the 1960s.
