Condition

Filler and later restoration to areas where handles were located before damage. Ingrained dirt. Minor chips. Rubbing to gilding. Drilled, and red mark partially obscured. If used as lamp will require complete re-wiring.

Catalogue Note

There is an extant letter (not dated, but written at Christmas, probably in the late 1940s) from Sibyl Colefax to Vivien. Colefax writes, 'The vase must be made into a lamp'. It is impossible to say what vase this was but it does show that Colefax was converting vases into lamps.
