Condition

Overall very good original condition. All elements (mirror, favrile glass insets, hardware) appear original and undisturbed. When viewed in person the bronze surfaces present with a rich brown patina. With light surface soiling and minor traces of oxidation to the recessed areas of the design. The decorated bronze arms which support the mirror on either side are very slightly misaligned, only visible upon close inspection, which causes the edges of the bronze mirror frame to graze the support arms when the mirror is rotated vertically 180 degrees. The silvered mirror plate with a softly contoured beveled edge, which imparts the mirror with wonderful dimensionality. The mirrored glass surface with scattered areas of crazing to the silvering throughout, consistent with age and handling. With some small losses to the silvering around the edges, the largest to the center of the mirror measuring approximately 2 inches wide, visible in the catalogue illustration. The mirrored glass surface with some light surface scratches consistent with age and gentle use. The iridized favrile glass insets around the mirror plate and lower base all appear original and undisturbed, further enhancing the peacock motif. One amber tile on one of the corner peacock eye motifs on the base with a very small and tight hairline crack, stable. The peacock motif extends to the patinated bronze back plate of the central mirror, which is fully decorated with a whirling peacock feather design. A charming, smaller scale mirror with exquisite detailing.
