Condition

The artist's sheet has been hinged to the mount on the upper edge, on the reverse. The sheet is slightly undulated. Colours are strong and bright. With the exception of some very minor paper losses along the extreme edges, the picture is in very good original condition and ready to hang. Presented mounted, framed and glazed.

Catalogue Note

The present work dates from Bauernfeind's first visit to Palestine in 1880. Although Jaffa was the main port of entry for travelers to Jerusalem, Bauernfeind was one of the few Orientalist artists to depict the city.
