Condition

Colour: The colour in the catalogue illustration is fairly accurate. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Close inspection reveals some light discolouration to the white thread and central square and some minor thread pulls in isolated places. There is some tiny discolouration to a thread in the letter T in the bottom centre and the letter E in the centre left. Further inspection reveals a small stain to the lower left corner of the central square and two short vertical ones to the centre right.

Catalogue Note

“I am interested in primary matters, such as the alphabet, the map, the newspaper, among other things owing to the spring which thus tautens between order and disorder. There is an exact order innate in each and every thing, even if it manifests in a disorderly manner.”
