Description

from the service commissioned by Louis-Philippe for the Château de Compiègne, each piece decorated with a wide band of gilt palmettes, comprising: a large circular bowl, eight footed compotes, two smaller compotes, a pair of ormolu-mounted bowls, two sauce tureens, covers and fixed stands, two écuelles, stands and covers, eight boat-shaped dishes, ninety-one dinner plates, twelve soup plates, crowned LP SEVRES and date marks in blue, CHATEAU DE COMPIEGNE marks in red. Together with a similar dinner plate, dated 1881 and eleven dinner plates, 20th century. 148 pieces.

Condition

All in good condition, except: Ormolu-mounted bowls: Please note that the bowls have not been examined beneath the mounts; the visible porcelain is in good condition except from some speckling-like black dots in the interior of one bowl, which is possibly firing-related. Sauce tureens, covers and fixed stands: finials of both covers have been broken off. Ecuelles, stands and covers: one stand has an approximate 1/5-inch slice chip to the underside of the rim. Dinner plates: Four plates, each with a 1/2-inch flat chip to the rim edge. Three plates, each with a 1/2-inch footrim chip. One plate with some minor chipping along the footrim. One with a small rim chip. Soup plates: Three, each with a very fine starcrack to the center.One with an approximate 1/2-inch flat rim chip.
