A l'oeil nu, le tableau se présente dans un état de conservation satisfaisant. Il est sous un vernis ancien, sale, encrassé. Il a fait l'objet d'un réentoilage dans la première moitié du XXe siècle. On constate deux coutures de toile verticales, l'une à 19 cm du bord gauche, l'autre à 17 cm du bord droit. Il y a quelques restaurations le long de ces coutures. A la lampe UV : il se présente sous un vernis vert uniforme. On constate des restaurations le long des coutures. Il y a quelques reprises dans le paysage , sous le loup au centre. To the naked eye, the painting is in a good condition. It is under a dirty old varnish. It has been relined in the first half of the XXth century. We can see two vertical stitch, one of them 19 cm away from the left edge and the other 17 cm away from the right edge. There are few restoration along these stitches. Under the UV light : it is under a green even varnish. We can see some restorations along the stitches. Few touches of restoration un the landscape and in the wolf in the center.
