Composed of links set with cushion-shaped and oval stones including hessonite garnet, pink and white sapphire, aquamarine, pink and yellow topaz, yellow zircon, green tourmaline and alexandrite, the pendant with an octagonal hessonite garnet, each within a floral open work border set with rose diamonds and spaced with similar smaller clusters set with circular-cut spinels, length approximately 390mm, pendant detachable, two diamonds deficient.

Condition

Clasp tongue with incised number 35406. Principal gemstones from tongue, with approximate measurements and calculated approximate carat weights in brackets: deep orangey brown hessonite garnet (7.1 x 8.4 x 4.3mm, 2.00 carats) bluish-white sapphire (8.1 x 8.0 x 7.1mm, 4.05 carats) pale greenish blue aquamarine (7.3 x 9.9 x 5.7mm, 2.26 carats) brownish-yellow zircon (8.8 x 10.5 x 8.0mm, 7.56 carats) deep orangey brown hessonite garnet (9.2 x 10.3 x 5.3mm, 4.31 carats) pink sapphire (11.4 x 8.9 x 5.4mm, 4.38 carats) yellow zircon (9.0 x 10.3 x 5.5mm, 5.22 carats) pink topaz (8.1 x 11.6 x 5.0mm, 3.67 carats) bright green peridot (9.9 x 7.2 x 5.5mm, 2.87 carats) brown tourmaline (7.9 x 8.1 x 3.8mm, 1.68 carats) green (daylight) to yellowish (incandescent light) alexandrite (8.0 x 6.4 x 5.4mm, approximately 2.06 - 2.27 carats, as tapered cut) pale yellow topaz (13.7 x 8.3 x 4.3mm, 3.47 carats) deep brownish orange hessonite garnet in pendant (15.05 x 11.9 x 4.6mm, 8.03 carats). Spinels bright pinkish red. All stones transparent, with typical inclusions visible under magnification, some visible to naked eye, some surface-reaching. Areas of surface wear and very minor chipping to facet edges to stones consistent with age and wear. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated total diamond weight approximately 7.00 - 10.00 carats. Two diamonds deficient, to yellow zircon cluster and hessonite cluster by clasp tongue. Links well-articulated, clasp secure. Metal with scratches and areas of discolouration consistent with age and wear, some small areas of solder to reverse. Each larger cluster detachable via screw fittings to reverse, pendant detachable via hook fitting. Overall in good condition.
