Condition

Original canvas. There is a very light surface scratch approximately 5cm in length in the top left corner. The canvas is also slightly taut in this corner. There are very faint stretcher marks running vertically through the centre. Otherwise in overall very good condition, clean and ready to hang. UV light reveals pentimenti in the lower right quadrant, including the outline of a 'ghost' ship and some minor infilling, as well as an uneven layer of varnish. Held in an ornate carved and gilt wooden frame with plaster mouldings. Unexamined out of frame.
