Catalogue Note

The present lot is a smaller version of Vuchetich's eponymous monumental sculpture which was given by the Soviet Union to the United Nations and was installed by their headquarters in New York. Another version can be found outside the entrance to the State Tretyakov Gallery on Krimsky Val in Moscow. Vuchetich also designed The Motherland Calls in Volgograd which commemorates the Battle of Stalingrad.
